正座
The seiza 正座, "proper sitting," is considered to be the proper way to sit on the floor, in formal occasions, etc.
あぐら
The agura あぐら is a name for a certain Chinese folding chair, which makes a X shape when unfolded, and the the term for sitting on the floor with legs crossed.

割座
The wariza 割座, "parted sitting," also known as "W sitting," among other names, refers to sitting with your butt on the floor, one leg to each side, forming a W shape.
Also known as: ぺたん座り, ぺたんこ座り, 女の子座り, アヒル座り, W座り, おばあちゃん座り.

横座り
The yokozuwari 横座り, "side sitting," refers to sitting to legs to one side.

長座
The chouza 長座, "long sitting," refers to sitting with legs straight, stretched long.

立膝
The tatehiza 立膝, "standing knee," refers to sitting with one's knee up.

体育座り
The taiiku-zuwari 体育座り, "physical education sitting," refers to sitting holding one's knees.
Also known as: 三角座り, 体操座り.

結跏趺坐
The kekkafuza 結跏趺坐 is the lotus position in yoga. It's similar to the agura, but differs in that the feet's soles face up.

Squatting
The word for squatting would be:
- shagamu
しゃがむ
To bend one's knees and lower your hips.
To crouch. To squat.
ヤンキー座り
The yankii-zuwari ヤンキー座り refers to squatting with one's legs open. It's associated with yankii ヤンキー, "delinquents," making it known as the "delinquent squat."

うんこ座り
The unko-zuwari うんこ座り, "poop sitting," refers to sitting in a position used to poop in a "Japanese style toilet," washiki-benki 和式便器, that is, squatting, regardless of whether the person squatting is defecating at the time or not.

蹲踞
The sonkyo 蹲踞 is the squatting pose taken by wrestlers in sumō 相撲, with legs open, thighs horizontal, and heels not touching the floor.

足組み
The word ashikumi 足組み refers to "crossing [one]'s legs" when sitting on a chair, for example.

空気椅子
The kuuki-isu 空気椅子, "air chair," refers to keeping a posture as if you were sitting on a chair, except there's no chair, and you're just squatting really high.

膝枕
The hizamakura 膝枕, "lap pillow," refers to letting someone use your lap as a pillow.

石抱き
The ishidaki 石抱き, "stone-hugging," refers to a torture method in which someone does a seiza on a ridged block and stone blocks are placed on their lap.
