Akira Bike Slide (Braking Technique)

In anime, sometimes a bike slide is a reference to Akira アキラ, a 1988 anime movie, specially if's a shot with the character facing the camera, with three trails of smoke coming from the tires and the character's foot as they brake the bike, and with lightening coming out of somewhere.

Character: Kaneda Shoutarou 金田正太郎
Anime: AKIRA アキラ (Movie)

• Context: Kaneda is a delinquent leader of a biker gang in Neo Tokyo. The series is set after the third world war, presumably being based on the same sort of biker gangs that came to existence after the second one.
• Kaneda's bike isn't a normal motorcycle, but a futuristic one, hence the sparks and lightning coming out of it.

These are just your average bicycles, so the fact they're giving off lightning is obviously a reference to Akira. Similarly:

No Lightning

In some cases, the bike slide is parodied without lightning, or maybe it's not a parody, and it just looks extremely similar. Who knows? For reference, some examples:

• Context: this guy has a cool sci-fi bike that shoots lasers and has grappling hooks.
• Does it emit lightning when braking, tho?
• No.
• It does not.
• Why does it not...
• I mean, if there's ONE EXAMPLE that should have lightning in it in this whole article it would be this one. This is the only one where it would make sense!

Character: Yoko Littner ヨーコ・リットナー
Anime: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, 天元突破グレンラガン (Episode 1)

• Context: this is a "three-point landing," san-ten chakuchi 三点着地, how does it emit only two trails of smoke?
• 2/3 literally unwatchable.
